The Maryland AHEC (MAHEC) Program partners with the following organizations:

Bureau of Health Professions and the Area Health Education Centers

Mission: Improve the health status of the population by providing national leadership in the development, distribution and retention of a diverse, culturally competent health workforce that provides the highest quality care for all.

National Health Service Corps

NHSC is committed to improving the health of the Nation's underserved:
  • Uniting communities in need with caring health professionals
  • Supporting communities' efforts to build better systems of care

Community Health Center Program

CHC Program is a Federal grant program funded under Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act to provide for primary and preventive health care services in medically underserved areas throughout the U.S. and its territories.

National AHEC Organization (NAO)

NAO is the national organization that supports and advances the AHEC/HETC network in improving the health of individuals and communities by transforming health care through education.

University of Maryland, School of Medicine

UMSOM was established in 1807. It is the fifth oldest medical school in the United States and the first to institute a residency training program. The School of Medicine was the founding school of the University of Maryland and today it is an integral part of the 11-campus University of Maryland System. On the University of Maryland at Baltimore campus, the School of Medicine serves as the foundation for a large academic health center that combines medical education, biomedical research, patient care and community service.

UMSOM Office of Policy and Planning

The Office of Policy and Planning is a bridge for academic and community-based endeavors that address health disparities throughout the State of Maryland. The Office of Policy and Planning accomplishes its mission through the development, implementation and evaluation of culturally competent research, educational, and service delivery programs for underserved populations in urban and rural regions of the States.

Eastern Shore Areas Health Education Center

Mission Statement: To improve access to quality health care services through community and educational partnerships by increasing the supply of health care professionals serving vulnerable populations (with an emphasis on primary care), providing continuing education and training to practicing health care professionals and students, and serve as facilitator for the discussion of community health issues.

Western Maryland Area Health Education Center

WMAHEC is a 501 © 3 organization whose mission is to improve access to and promote quality in healthcare through educational partnerships.

Baltimore Area Health Education Center

Mission: To improve access to quality healthcare by increasing the supply of healthcare professionals in the workforce to address health disparities existing in medically underserved areas through academic and community partnership.

University of Maryland Statewide Health Network

UMSHN is established to reduce morbidity and mortality related to cancer and tobacco-related diseases through promotion of a wide variety of prevention and control activities as well as promotion of increased participation in clinical trials.

Maryland Special Populations Cancer Research Network

MSPN supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of a sustainable and robust infrastructure that:
  • Promotes cancer awareness.
  • Launches cancer control activities.
  • Researches minority and medically underserved communities.
